What is Random Acts ?

Firstly, you don’t have to be a filmmaker – although you might be – which is also fine. We are looking for young artists with a fabulous, bold, creative idea across all art-forms.If we love your idea for a short arts film (under 3 mins long) then we will give you help, support, advice and a budget to get your film made – the films will then be submitted to Channel 4 for potential broadcast on their on-line platform and TV strand.

You can apply individually,or,as a group – whatever works for you.

To give you an idea take a look at the Random Acts website to see of loads examples of previously commissioned films www.randomacts.channel4.com/

Why should I apply?

Apart from the opportunity to see your creative vision turned in to a wonderful short arts film and potentially screened on Channel 4, being part of the scheme is a great addition to your Personal Statement for Universities and Colleges or CV for future employers – being a part of this will make you stand out from the crowd. It also gives you access to a variety of career development opportunities.

How do I apply?

Go to the application form, read the guidelines that are there to help you, and then fill in our easy on-line application form and email to juliec@ruralmedia.co.uk

So, down to the Nitty Gritty

Ok, so you need to be aged between 16-24 and live in the Midlands. If you’re at a University or College in the Midlands, this counts too.

The Midlands: Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire,Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire,Worcestershire

You will need to have a clear focus of what it is you want to do; you may have a script, artwork, storyboard, choreography or piece of music that you want to use, or have developed concepts and ideas that you want to realise on screen. There will be time to cultivate your ideas with professional mentors, but we will be looking for applications that can demonstrate a clear vision.

The production process will be demanding. You will be supported and guided throughout it all, but you need to be prepared to commit time and energy to producing your work. Once you are commissioned you will be placed onto a production schedule which means working to tight delivery deadlines.
